My interest in writing dates back to my middle school years. I recall filling entire notebooks with information. Among the material I wrote are stories, points of view, anecdotes, and personal experiences that have shaped my life and continue to do so. Later, and during my college years, I decided to publish the material as a blog. As a result of accumulating a large following as well as positive feedback and petitions, I ventured into the world of podcasting. I transformed my written content into an audio experience for each episode. It is here that you have found me, and I will remain there so long as you find my work interesting. This regiment, composed primarily of Puerto Rican soldiers, has demonstrated exceptional bravery and resilience through numerous conflicts, earning a legacy of honor and fidelity. Formation in Early History. The origins of the 65th Infantry Regiment date back to the aftermath of the Spanish-American War. Following the Treaty of Paris in 1898, Puerto Rico became a US territory. In 1899, the US Congress authorized the creation of a native military unit in Puerto Rico, leading to the formation of the Puerto Rican Battalion of Volunteer Infantry, the Puerto Rican Battalion of Volunteer Infantry. This unit was later incorporated into the regular army as the Puerto Rico Regiment of Infantry in 1908 and renamed the 65th Infantry Regiment in 1920. World War I and World War II During World War I, the 65th Infantry Regiment was deployed to guard the Panama Canal, a critical strategic asset. Although they did not see combat, the presence was vital in securing this crucial passage. World War II saw the regiment in active combat roles across Europe. The Borinqueneers participated in key campaigns, including the Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno and Rhineland operations. Their bravery and effectiveness in battle earned them numerous commendations, including a distinguished service cross, two silver stars and over 900 purple hearts.

The Borinqueneers quickly gained a reputation for their fierce combat skills and unwavering determination. The Battle of Chosin Reservoir the regiment was part of the US forces that faced overwhelming Chinese troops in freezing conditions. Despite the harsh environment and being outnumbered, the Borinqueneers fought valiantly to protect their positions and assist in withdrawal of US forces. Outpost Kelly In September 1952, the 65th Infantry Regiment was tasked with defending Outpost Kelly, a strategically important position. The Marine Coneers faced relentless attacks from Chinese forces. Despite suffering heavy casualties, they held their ground and demonstrated exceptional bravery under fire. The Battle of Jackson Heights In October 1952, the regiment was involved in intense combat, capture and hold of Jackson Heights. The Rinconeers faced fierce resistance but managed to secure the position, showcasing their combat progress and determination.
